Abstract
Anqing and Wuhu were political and commercial cities along Yangtze River in Anhui during ancient times.The urban spatial structure displayed respective characteristics because of function difference.The former focused ontown,so its spatial arrangement emphasised characteristics of order and defense;while latter one centered on marketand experienced process in which the port and the city were co-developing.During Late Qing Dynasty,under promotion of external powers,this kind of difference became more obvious.
