Abstract

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and its biologic be-havior in ovarian cancer. Methods: The expression of COX-2 was detected by immunohistochemical in 12 normal tissue cases, 16 benign ovarian tumour and 70 ovarian cancer cases. Results: Sixty-two cases had COX-2 positive expression in 70 cases of ovarian cancer. The expression of COX-2 in ovarian cancer was significant higher compared to those normal tissue. And the expression of COX-2 was associ-ated with clinical stage and lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: The expression of COX-2 protein is related to the occurrence, develop-ment and metastasis of ovarian cancer, and acts as indexes in ovarian cancer.
