Early rehabilitation nursing for hemiplegia patients with acute stroke

Objective Early intervention of rehabilitation nursing has been applied extensively to the limb functional recovery of hemiplegia patients with acute stroke.This article investigated the importance of early intervention of rehabilitation nursing for these patients.Methods Seventy-two hemiplegia patients with primary acute stroke were equally divided into a control group and a rehabilitation nursing group,the former receiving conventional treatment and nursing,while the latter,in addition,comprehensive rehabilitation nursing with a specifically designed rehabilitation plan for each individual patient.The self-care ability and quality of life (QOL) of the patients were evaluated by the Modified Barthel Index (MBI) before and after rehabilitation nursing.Results There was no statistical difference in total treatment time between the two groups (P 0.05).After rehabilitation nursing,both the motor function and self-care ability of the patients were improved;MBI and QOL were significantly improved in the rehabilitation nursing group as compared with the controls (P 0.05,P 0.01).Conclusion Early intervention of rehabilitation nursing can remarkably improve the motor function,self-care ability and QOL of hemiplegia patients with acute stroke.
