Treatment of patients with atrial arrhythmia using sotalol

Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of sotalol in treating atrial arrhythmia.Methed The effect and side effect were observed through compairson of oral sotalol and propafenone in patients with atrial arrhythmia. The heart rate,QTc,left ventricle diastole end diameter(LVDED) and ejection fraction(EF)were examined in patients before and after taking sotalol.Result The effect rate of sotalol and propafenone were 68.4% and 66.0% respectively.The side effect incidence were 16.0% and 14.5% respectively.In patients who took sotalol,the heart and QTc rate remarkably reduced and prolonged.but LVDED and EF hadn't changed obviously.Conclusion Sotalol is an effective and safe medicine in treating atrial arrhythmia.
