Abstract

Objective To observe the changes in the levels of serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1) and chlamydia pneumoniae(Cpn) antibody in patients with coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods Serum levels of sICAM-1 and IgG,IgM antibodies to Cpn were detected by enzyme-lined immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 60 CHD patients, which were subdivided into groups of acute myocardial infarction(AMI),unstable angina pectoris(UAP),old myocardial infarction(OMI) and stable angina pectoris(SAP).Forty healthy subjects were enrolled as control group. Results sICAM-1 in all the patients were significantly elevated compared with the control group(q=4.033-12.612,P0.01).The level of sICAM-1 in AMI was significantly higher than that in those of UAP,OMI and SAP (q=4.555-7.114,P0.01);The positive rate and level of Cpn-IgG in all CHD patients were significantly elevated compared with the control(χ2=4.250-8.887;q=3.018-9.673;P0.01,0.05);levels of Cpn-IgG in AMI were higher than those of OMI,UAP and SAP(q=3.794-5.518;P0.01,0.05);but the positive rates of Cpn-IgG and Cpn-IgM among the subgroups were not significantly different(P0.05);the level of Cpn-IgG was significantly correlated with those of sICAM-1 found in all CHD patients(r=0.544,P0.01). Conclusion Cpn infection may induce or aggravate the inflammation of the coronary artery, resulting in the occurrence and further development of coronary heart disease.
