Abstract
The pressure of rural population on resources and environment in western China is analyzed in aspects of economic population density, rural population control, the ratio of ecological optimum population and current population density and the proportion of agricultural population. It is believed that the government-leading implementation of the migration of the rural population to irrigated districts and to mid-to-small cities is the best way of ecological restoration and getting rich in western China.
