Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of P16 and P53 proteins in endometrial carcinoma and their correlations. Methods SP immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of P16 and P53 proteins in 60 specimens with endometrial carcinoma,20 with normal endometrium,20 with simple hyperplasia,20 with complex hyperplasia and 20 with atypical hyperplasia. Results The positive expression rates of P16 and P53 proteins in normal endometrium, simple hyperplasia, complex hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma were 70%(0%),65%(30%),60% (55%),and 43.3% (83.3%) respectively. There were statistically significant differences in the positive expression rates of P16 and P53 proteins between endometrial carcinoma and normal endometrium, simple hyperplasia, complex hyperplasia. The expression of P16 and P53 proteins was correlated with surgical stage, histological grade, and muscular invasion in endometrial carcinoma, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions Combined detection of P16 and P53 proteins may have certain reference value in determining the degree of malignancy and prognosis of endometrial carcinoma in clinical practice.
