Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expressions of p16 and bcl-2 in endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial carcinoma and their clinical significance. Methods: Paraffin embedded materials in 66 cases of endometrial hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma were collected and immunohistochemical stains were performed to detect the expressions of p16 and bcl-2. Results: Expressions of p16 gradually decreased from simple, complex, complex with atypical hyperplasia to endometrial carcinoma (78.6%, 57.1%, 66.6% and 40.5% respectively), which had statistical significance between hyperplasia groups and carcinoma (P0.05). There was no significant difference between expression of p16 and histological types, grades in endometrial carcinoma (P0.05). Expression of bcl-2 was no significant difference in endometrial carcinoma and complex, atypical hyperplasia. There was significant difference in simple, complex, atypical hyperplasia and endometrial carcinoma (P0.05). Expression of bcl-2 was no significant difference with histological types. There existed a significant difference between the expression of bcl-2 and histological grades (P0.05). Conclusions: Expression of p16, bcl-2 may play roles in endometrial carcinoma development, especially, higher expression in complex, atypical hyperplasia. It may be a target for differential diagnosis.
