Abstract
Objective To investigate the peripheral neutrophil apoptosis in preeclampsia and its mechanism. Methods Neutrophils isolated from 20 preeclamptic patients and 20 normal pregnancies in the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College from October 2003 to September 2004 were incubated with autologous serum in vitro for 24h. Then the apoptosis rate was determined by Flow Cytometry, and the expression of Mcl-1 mRNA and bax mRNA were determined by RT-PCR. Results Apoptosis rate was significantly reduced in neutrophils from preeclamptic patients (16.51% vs 3.84%) compared with that of normal pregnancies (30.62% vs 6.27%)(t=8.817,P0.01). And there was an upregulation of Mcl-1 mRNA expression in preeclamptic group, but no change of Bax mRNA. Conclusion Apoptosis in peripheral neutrophil of preeclampsia delays; the upregulation of Mcl-1 may play an important role in the apoptosis delay.
