Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the double dose ambroxol oral liquid on diabetic patients with community-acquired pneumonia(CAP).Methods A total of 42 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and CAP in our hospital between December 2010 and November 2011 were randomly divided into the treatment group(n=22) and the control group(n=20).The control group received conventional dose ambroxol oral solution(30 mg×10 ml/bag) 1 bags each time and three times a day;treatment group was given a double dose ambroxol oral solution(30 mg × 10 ml/bag)2 bag each time and three times a day;at the same time both groups were given cephalosporin infusion(2.0 g dissolved in 0.9% sodium chloride injection 250 ml) qd.The course of treatment was 7 d.The scores of syndrome, efficacy, fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose and adverse effect of the two groups patients before and after treatment were observed.Results(1)The syndrome scores of control group and treatment group before treatment were(8.4±2.0) and(8.2±1.7) respectively, there was no significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The syndrome scores of treatment group(2.4±1.9) after treatment was significantly lower than that of control group(4.6±2.8),the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P0.01).(2)In control group after treatment,2 cases were cured,4 cases obtained obvious effect,7 cases had effectual response and 7 cases had no response; As for treatment group, the dates were 7,9,4 and 2 respectively.Difference between the two groups was statistically significant(u=31.69,P0.01).(3)The fasting and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose of the two groups before and after treatment were not significantly different(P0.05).(4)During treatment period, both groups had no adverse reaction. Conclusion The efficacy of double dose ambroxol oral solution in the treatment of diabetic patients with CAP is better than conventional dose.Ambroxol oral solution is safe and effective expectorant drug without influence on the blood glucose level.
