Abstract

Objective To evaluat the in vitro antibacterial activity of mezlocillin/tazobactam against 252 strains of pathogens isolated from patients and compared with mezlocillin only.MethodsThe minimum inhibitory concentrations(MIC) of two β-lactams against 252 clinically isolated strains was detected with agar dilution method.ResultsThe results indicated that the in vitro antitacterial activity of mezlocillin/tazobactam(8∶1) was good. The MIC50 of mezlocillin/tazobactam(8∶1) was 1/128 of that of mezlocillin only, the MIC90 of mezlocillin/tazobactam(8∶1) was also 1/128 of that of mezlocillin only.ConclusionThe in vitro antibacterial activities of mezlocillin/tazobactam(8∶1) against clinically isolated 252 strains of bacteria are high.Mezlocillin/tazobactam(8∶1) is stable to β-lactamase and is an effective bactericidal agent.
