Abstract
Objective To detect the expression of survivin in prostate carcinoma and analyse its correlation with Gleason score and clinical stage. Methods An immunohistochemical streptavidin-perosidase(S-P)method was used to detect the expression of survivin in 45 prostate carcinoma tissues and 50 benign prostatic hyperplasia tissues. The expression intensities were measured by semi-quantitative method. The data were statistically treated by Chi-square test and correlation analysis. Results Survivin expression was detected in 37 cases of prostate cancer(82.2%).The positive rate in high score group was significantly higher than in low score group(P0.01),but there was no significance among different clinical stages(P0.05).Survivin expression intensity was positively correlated with Gleason score. Conclusion The survivin expression strongly correlated with malignance of prostate carcinoma, and it might play an important role in the progression of prostate carcinoma.
