Abstract
Objective To explore the treatment of recurrent inguinal hernia by mesh plug tension-free hernia repair in elderly patients. Methods The clinical data of forty-three elderly patients with recurrent inguinal hernia treated by mesh plug tension-free hernia repair from October 2002 to December 2008 were retrospectively analyzed. Results The patients were all cured without analgesic postoperatively, there was no case of recurrence in follow-up time from six months to six years. Conclusions The mesh plug tension-free hernia repair is a safe and reliable method, with less trauma and pain, faster recovery, simple operation, short hospital stay, low recurrence rate and other advantages, particularly for the treatment of recurrent inguinal hernia in the elderly.
