Abstract
Objective To detect the effect of zirconia all-ceramic crowns on gingival health. Methods Fifty-two teeth with zirconia all-ceramic crowns subgingival margins of thirty-eight patients were involved in the study. The patients were examined before and 1 year after the placement of the crowns. The gingival crevicular fluid(GCF)samples were collected by filter paper strips. The weight of GCF and the concentration of GCF TNF-α and IL-6 were detected. Results All the restorations were clinically accepted, either in marginal depth or in marginal discrepancies. There were no significant differences in clinical parameters and GCF parameters between the test teeth before and after prosthesis. Conclusion Clinically accepted, zirconia all-ceramic crown has no apparently negative influences on gingival health of the restored teeth in one year.
