Abstract
Micromorphological characters of leaf epidermis of 7 species of Syzygium in Fujian were examined by LM and SEM.The main conclusions are as follows:1)The stomatal apparatus of 7 species of Syzygium, only restricted to the lower leaf epidermis, was assigned to paracytic type. The stomatal index was between 13.7%and 24.28%;2)The shape of epidermal cells with the nearly straight or sinuolate or sinuate pattern of anticlinal wall was generally irregular, sometimes polygonal;3)The wax ornamentation of the cuticular membrane of the leaf epidermis and the surface of the guard cell was mainly cavernulous, sometimes scaly or smooth. Those characters are variant between species and possess the classific value of species.
