Abstract
This paper establishes the index system of sustainable development capacity, based on the analysis of the particular background of Northern Jiangsu considering the breakthrough of constructing regional sustainable development capacity, and then evaluates the sustainable development capacity of Northern Jiangsu comprehensively by adopting the Factor Analysis Method and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis Method of SPSS. The consequence shows that there are great differentiations of the sustainable development capacity among counties and cities in Northern Jiangsu, but there are some characteristics in regional spatial differentiation of the sustainable development capacity. The sustainable economic development capacity presents the spatial pattern of —, higher in the southeast while lower in the middle of Northern Jiangsu. The sustainable resource-environmental development capacity presents the spatial pattern of 凸, higher in the middle while lower in the east and the west of Northern Jiangsu. The sustainable social development capacity presents the spatial pattern of M and the sustainable comprehensive development capacity presents the spatial pattern of H in Northern Jiangsu. There is a trend of the sustainable development capacity in Northern Jiangsu that it decreases gradually from the middle to the border while taking key city as core. According to these characteristics of spatial differentiation, some suggestions to strengthen the construction of sustainable development capacity in Northern Jiangsu are put forward.
