Abstract

By collecting FDI,international trade and innovation related data and using static and dynamic spatial panel econometric models, this paper investigated FDI spillover and international trade spillover and space overflow of China's 30 provincial regional innovation during 1998—2009 from the geographical and socio-economic perspectives.Study showed that:in space overflow, both geographical and socio-economic characteristics have significant positive spillover effects on the regional innovation;in geographical features, the weight of space adjacency has a greater impact;in socio-economic characteristics, the weight of industrial structure relation has a greater impact. The FDI technology spillover effect is significantly negative. The international trade spillover effect is significantly positive and the external environment for innovation has a significant positive spillover effects. This paper proposed the policy to effectively enhance the ability of regional innovation implications.
