Abstract
Objective: To investigate the application of Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) in the identification between benign and malignant Pleural effusion. Methods: To assay the activity of ADA in specimen and serum between the patients of 156 tuberculous pleural effusions and 60 malignant pleural effusion. Results: The activity of ADA in tuberculous pleural effusion (91.2±22.4)U/L is super than serum (21.8±5.8)U/L and malignant pleural effusion (22.2±5.6)U/L, the difference is significant (P0.01). Conclusion: The activity of ADA could serve as a marker in the identification between benign and malignant Pleural effusion, especially has the clinical diagnosis value in tuberculous pleuritis.
