Research of urban and rural residents' consumption structure differences in China

The imbalance in regional economic development determines the existence of regional differences in consumption structure.Through analysis of income and consumption level,the average propensity to consume and consumption expenditure structure,the Chinese regional urban and rural residents' consumption structure difference is revealed.The results show that the consumption structure of eastern urban residents is better than those of the other regions,and higher than the national average.The central and northeast regions are nearly the same,while the consumption structure of western urban residents is the most backward,and much lower than the national average.The consumption structure of urban residents is upgrading from living type to enjoy type and developmental type.While in rural areas,the consumption structures of eastern and northeastern rural residents are better than those of the other regions,and higher than the national average level;rural residents' consumption level in central and western regions is below the national average,and the western consumption structure is the most backward.China's rural residents' consumption structure still remains in the living-type,lagging behind of the consumption structure of urban residents.
