Abstract
Objective To analyze cost-effectiveness of two different therapeutic regimen to treat H. pylori infection in peptic ulcer. Methods Eighty-two patients with peptic ulcer were randomized divided into two groups:group A(received esomeprazole 20 mg, amoxicillin capsules 1000 mg and furazolidone 100 mg, twice a day) and group B(received omeprazole 20 mg, amoxicillin capsules 1000 mg and furazolidone 100 mg, twice a day). The courses of the two treatment were all 7 days. The cure rates of peptic ulcer and eradication rate of H. pylori were observed, and cost-effectiveness were analyzed in each group 4 weeks after treatment. Results Cure rates of peptic ulcer in group A and group B had significant difference(95.12% vs 85.37%,P0.05).Eradication rates of H. pylori had no significant difference in group A and B (92.68% vs 85.37%,P0.05).Average treatment cost per case was 209.25 yuan in group A and 82.41 yuan in group B. The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of ulcer healing rate and Hp eradication rate of group A was 17.35,13.01 as against group B.Conclusions According to the cost-effectiveness analysis, triple therapy consisting of omeprazole is more cost effective than the triple therapy consisting of esomeprazole.
