Abstract
Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of combined use of omeprazole , amoxicillin and furazolidone in eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Methods There 120 patients with peptic ulcer and positive H. pylori were randomly allocated into four groups each consisted of 30 patients. The patients in control group received omeprazole 20mg + amoxicillin 1g+ metronidazole 400 mg, twice daily each, for one week; The patients in treatment group A,B and C received different doses of furazolidone(100,200,300mg) respectively + omeprazole 20mg + amoxicillin 1g, twice daily for one week. Side effects were observed and recorded during the treatment; endoscopy was performed and H. pylori was detected repeatedly four weeks after the end of treatment. Results The eradication rates of H. pylori were 59.3%、58.6%、85.7%、84.6% and the healing rates of peptic ulcer were 63.0%、65.5%、89.3%、88.5% in control group and treatment groupA-C respectively. There were no difference in H. pylori eradication rates and healing rates of peptic ulcer between control group and groupA(P0.05); The eradication rates of H. pylori and healing rates of peptic ulcer in group B and C were obviously higher than those in control group and groupA (P0.05), but there were no difference in eradication rates of H. pylori and healing rates of peptic ulcer between group B and group C(P0.05); There were no difference in occurance rates of side effects among these four groups(P0.05). Conclusion The effect of combined use of omeprazole, amoxicillin and twice dose of furazolidone is highly effective in eradication of H. pylori and with light side effect, and It may replace metronidazole and be as the the first line drug in eradication of H. pylori.
