Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of carvedilol on circulating levels of endothelin (ET) and nitric oxide (NO) and Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP).Methods 74 patients with UAP were randomly divided into two groups:normal treatment group (n=34) and carvedilol group (n=40),20 heathy individuals were control groups. Before and after treatment, the circulating levels of ET、NO and CGRP were observed in patients with UAP and healthy individuals. Results The levels of circulating NO and CGRP in patients with UAP were significantly lower than healthy individuals (P0.01) while the level of circulating ET was higher than healthy individuals (P0.01).After treatment the level of circulating ET in carvedilol group was lower than normal treatment group while the levels of circulating NO and CGRP level were higher than normal treatment group (P0.01).Both of two groups, the levels of circulating NO and CGRP were significantly higher than those before treatment (P0.01).There was no obvious lowness in the levels of circulating ET after normal treatment (P0.05) execpt after carvedilol treatment (P0.01).Conclusion Carvedilol can do well to the endothelial function in patients with unstable angina.
