Effect of Proteinuria in Patients With Type 2 Diabetic Nephropathy by Telmisartan

Objective To investigate the effect of proteinuria of telmisartan on type 2 diabetic nephropathy. Methods In addition to ongoing treatment,thirty six type 2 diabetic patients with nephropathy were randomly devided into telmisartan group and losartan group,which were treated with telmisartan 80 mg once daily and losartan 100 mg once daily respectively,and blood pressure,24 h proteinuria and biochemical parameters were measured. Results After thirty weeks,24 h proteinuria and blood pressure decreased significantly,but blood glucose,blood-fat and glomerular filtration rate did not chang notably,in comparison with losartan group,telmisartan decreased 24 h proteinuria more significantly,but manifested a similar reduction in blood pressure. Conclusion To type 2 diabetic patients with nephropathy,telmisartan is superior to losartan in reducing proteinuria.
