【Objective】To investigate the correlation between adiponectin gene polymorphisms and type 2 diabetes(T2DM).【Methods】Totally 133 patients with type 2 diabetes and 57 nondiabetes(NDM) subjects with no family history of diabetes in Kunming,Yunnan Province,Southwest of China,were included in the present study.Using polymerase chain reaction-based restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP),the genotypes of SNP-11377,SNP+45 and SNP+276 in adiponectin gene were detected and their haplotypes were constructed.Then,the correlation between the three SNPs and T2DM of Han population was assessed.【Results】 The genotype and allele frequencies of SNP-11377,SNP +45 and SNP +276 had no significant difference between T2DM and NDM groups.The constructed haplotype frequencies of SNP-11377,SNP+45 and SNP+276 had no significant difference between T2DM and NDM groups.In NDM group,subjects with SNP-11377CC genotype had lower body mass index(BMI) and waist circumference.【Conclusions】There is no correlation between the SNP-11377,SNP+45,SNP+276 and T2DM of Han population in Kunming.SNP-11377CC genotype might be a protective genotype against obesity in NDM group of Han population in Kunming.
