Analysis of etiology of children short stature

Objective: To investigate the etiology of children with short stature.Methods: The study of etiology of 50 children with short stature were done by acquisition of comprehensive history,physical examination and associated laboratory examination.Results: There were 20 cases with growth hormone deficiency(GHD),accounting for 40 %,1 case with constitutional delayed puberty(CDP)(2%),3 cases with intrauterine growth retardation(6.0%),4 cases with malnutrition(8.0%),5 cases with unknown origin(10.0%),6 cases with Turner's syndrome(12.0%),6 cases with lead poisoning(12.5%),5 cases with idiopathic short stature of five cases(10.0%).Conclusion: The dominant etiology of children with short stature is endocrine disorder;of which,the commonest one is GHD.The treatment of children with short stature should base on the etiology.
