Biomechanical research of the vertical velocity of high jump take-off

Abstract

The trial take off of some elite high jumpers were filmed live by two Sony cameras.Some related reference parameters were selected and some elite high jumpers from China and other countries were analyzed.It has been shown that the vertical velocity of Chinese high jumpers' instantaneous mass center is low at the time of take-off,according with the characteristics of Chinese high jumpers.The low speed of the swinging arms and legs is mainly related to the strength of the making of take-off legs.The take-off time of Chinese high jumpers is shorter than that of others.That is related to the shorter distance.The relatively lower take-off amortizing time is in favor of boosting the take-off vertical speed.All kinds of the reason deciding the take-off vertical speed is related to the quality of taking off leg strength.
