Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of interventional thermochemoembolotherapy on patients with hepatic metastasis of colon carcinoma. Methods Sixty three patients suffering from hepatic metastasis of colon carcinoma were randomly divided into thermochemotherpy group(30 cases)and routine chemotherapy group(33 cases). In thermochemotherpy group,5-Fu,mitomycin and cisplatin which were heated to 65℃ were slowly injected into hepatic artery through catheter, and then embolized the feeding artery of carcinoma by lipiodol. In routine chemotherapy group, the same drugs without heating were used with the same way as the thermochemotherpy group.Body temperature and hepatic function were observed.CEA and liver CT were performed monthly, the situation of lipiodol deposition as well as the size and number of tumor was observed and the survival rate was also analyzed every month. Results Compared with routine chemotherapy group, the survival rate was significantly increased in thermochemotherpy group, and the survival rate of 6,12,18,24 months was 100%,93%,73%,60%,respectively.The size of tumor was smaller and the number was less in thermochemotherpy group than routine chemotherapy group significantly(P0.01).However,there was no significant difference between two groups in lipiodol deposition, temperature, hepatic function and complication(P0.05).Conclusion Interventional thermochemoembolotherapy can effectively enhance efficacy of hepatic metastasis of colon carcinoma, and prolong survival time.
