Evolution of the Secret Society in Northern Hubei Province Since the Late Qing Dynasty

The Chinese society has experienced great changes since the late Qing Dynasty.The secret society in northern Hubei Province also went through a process from flourishing to separation,decline and finally to complete collapse.There were different social contradictions and major tasks in different stages in China,but the destructiveness of of the secret society kept unchanged,so their activities changed from certain traits of anti-feudalism and anti-aggression with positive and progressive significance to opposing the country and the people.Thus,it was the characteristic of anti-society of the secret society that determined its destiny.
