Abstract

The effects of topping and physiological regulator on chemical components of flue-curd tobacco were studied by a pot experiment in order to investigate the physiological regulator on tobacco quality. The results showed that potassium content in tobacco leaves decreased significantly(P0.05) by 13.2%-39.6% and nicotine content increased significantly(P0.05) after topping. But potassium content in tobacco leaves increased significantly(P0.05) by 14.5%-23.6% and nicotine content decreased significantly(P0.05) by 12.5%-34.7% with application of physiological regulator after topping. No evident effects of topping and physiological regulator on total nitrogen, reducing sugar and protein was observed. In conclusion, application of physiological regulator after topping can improve the flue-cured tobacco quality.
