Abstract
Objective To investigate the protective effects of total flavonoids of Bidens bipinnata L.(TFB)on acute and chronic liver injury in mice induced by carbon tetrachloride and mechanisms. Methods Sixty Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, model group,Hu-Gan-Pian (4g·kg-1)group and TFB (120,60,30mg·kg-1)groups.The acute and chronic liver injury model in mice were induced by different dosages and administration times of carbon tetrachloride respectively to study the effects of TFB on liver index, hepatic morphological changes and detect the contents of SOD,MDA,ALT and AST in serum. Results Compared with model group, the degree of hepatic edema in TFB (120,60,30mg·kg-1)and Hu-Gan-Pian (4g·kg-1) groups were decreased (P0.05or P0.01),the contents of AST,ALT and MDA in serum were decreased (P0.05or P0.01),and the contents of SOD were increased (P0.05or P0.01).TFB and Hu-Gan-Pian could ameliorate the pathological lesion. Conclusion TFB has protective effects on carbon tetrachloride-induced acute and chronic liver injury in mice, which may be related to inhibition of lipid oxidation.
