Abstract

Objective To analyze the risk factors of obstructive sleep apnea and hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Method Total 189 patients with OSAHS diagnosed by overnight polysomnography(PSG)were studied retrospectively and the effects of gender, age and obesity on the prevalence of OSAHS were analyzed. Results The prevalence of OSAHS was greater in male than in female;there was higher prevalence of OSAHS with age 30~50 years;BMI 30 kg/m2 was not common in our cases. Conclusion Male and middle-aged are the risk factors of OSAHS,although factors other than obesity might also have an important pathogenic role in OSA in Chinese subjects, such as craniofacial anatomic defects.
