Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of obstructive sleep apnea/hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) and obesity in children, and risk factors of OSAHS.Methods A total of 200 cases of simple obese children and 100 normal weight chil dren were selected, and OSAHS prevalence and related factors were analyzed. Results The obese group OSAHS prevalence was significantly higher(P 0.01),and respectively divided into obese patients with OSAHS group and obese non-OSAHS group, and normal weight with OSAHS group and normal weight non-OSAHS group. The value of the differences of BMI standard values,OAI,AHI,LSaO2,CAI,sleep efficiency were statistically significant(P 0.01).BMI standard values and OAI,AHI,CAI,sleep efficiency were positively correlated, and LSaO2was negatively correlated(P 0.05).Contrast to OSAHS children and children with non-OSAHS related factors, the differences of obesity, enlarged tonsils and adenoid enlarge ment, neck circumference were statistically significant(P 0.05);obesity,enlarged tonsils, adenoids swollen large were risk factors of children OSAHS(P 0.05).Conclusion Obesity might increase suffering from OSAHS in children and is closely related to OSAHS severity.
