Abstract
A protocol was outlined for plant rapid propagation using young vegetative bud as explants from rhizomes for Curcuma nankunshanensis,an attractive tropical ornamental. The results showed that the optimal medium for shoot inducing was MS+6-BA 5.0 mg/L+NAA 0.2 mg/L with an inducing rate of 85%.TDZ showed dramatic effects on plantlet propagation, with a mean of 13.60 shoots per explant on MS medium with 0.5 mg/L TDZ.Rooting of the shoots was readily achieved on subsequent 1/2MSmedium + NAA 0.5 mg/L.Complete plantlets(6 cm in length) were transferred to soil in greenhouse for one month and then transplanted in the field.About 95%of the plants survived to maturity.
