Abstract
The reaction condition of ethyl benzoate by the reaction of benzoic acid with ethanel, by using chitosan sulfate as catalyst has been studied , influences of amount of catalyst, the molar ratio of ethanel to benzoic acid and reaction time that effect the esterifaction have been mainly discussed. Results show that chitosan sulfate is an excellent catalyst for the synthesis of ethyl benzoate, and it could be used for many times. The optimum reaction conditions decided by orthogonal method are that the amount of catalyst is 4.1%that of benzoic acid, the molar ratio of ethanel to the acid is 5:1,the reaction time is 3h .Under those conditions the yield is 86.51%
