Abstract

Tagore's poetry has a unique personality which is shown in his inheritance and development of ecological wisdom contained in Indian traditional culture. In his literary works especially his poetry;he expresses the richness of ecological tradition.Reading his poems,we can find that they highlight the holistic harmonious idea which includes the harmony between human and nature, holistic view of nature and the spiritual harmony. These ideas are the embodiment of ecocriticism and have abundant ecological significance. As Tagore's profound understanding of the ecological nature, some ecological thinking expressed in his poetry coincides with the modern ecocritics',which has a strong forward-looking.Therefore,we need to reinterpret Tagore's poems from the perspective of ecocriticism, continually thinking about the relationship between man and nature, promoting harmony between man and nature and advocating the harmony inside of human beings.
