Abstract
Objective To explore the plasma resistin level in the patients with essential hypertension (HT) of Xinjiang Kazakans and the relations between plasma resistin level and insulin resistance(IR), blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure and obesity. Methods Sixty seven Kazakans hypertensive cases were recruited, 60 healthy subjects serve as controls. Blood pressure, height, weight, waist circumference(WC)and hip were measured. Plasma resistin, fasting insulin(FINS), fasting plasma glucose(FPG), total cholesterol(TC) , triglyceride(TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), apoprotein-A1(Apo-A1) and apoprotein-B(Apo-B) were determined. Body mass index (BMI), waist-hip ratio(WHR), body fat percentage(BF%) and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) were calculated. Results (1)The plasma resistin concentration in HT group was significantly higher than that in control group(44.1±12.5 vs 37.5±14.1 ng/mL, P0.01). (2)Plasma resistin was positively and significantly correlated with age, SBP, WC, BMI, WHR, BF%, FPG, FINS, HOMA-IR, TG in HT group and positively and significantly correlated with age, SBP, BMI, BF%, FPG, FINS, HOMA-IR, TG in control group. (3)Regression analysis showed that HOMA-IR, FPG and BMI were independent determinants for the plasma resistin level in HT group, while HOMA-IR, BMI and percentage of body fat (BF%) were independent determinants for the plasma resistin level in control group. Conclusion Plasma resistin concentrations is increased in patients with HT of Kazakans. Close correlations between resistin and obesity, blood glucose and IR were found.
