Abstract
The esterification of acetic acid with sec-butanol catalyzed by p-toluenesulfonic acid is reported, and the amount of catalysts, the mole ratio of sec-butanol to acetic acid and reaction time on the yield of sec-butyl acetate is studied. The results show that the best reaction conditions are as the followings:when the amount of acetic acid is 0.1mol,the mass of catalysts is 0.4g,the molar ratio of sec-butanol to acetic acid is 1.2,cyclohexane as the water-carrying agent is 10 ml.The yield of sec-butyl acetate reaches 94.4% in 1.5 h.
