Efficacy of ornithine aspartate for injection on hepatic encephalopathy

Objective: To observe the ornithine aspartate for injection in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy patients. Methods: 56 patients with hepatic encephalopathy in our hospital from March 2008 to December 2010 were admitted and were randomly divided into two groups, treatment group 28 cases, 28 patients in control group. The control group were given routine treatment, treatment group were given ornithine aspartate for injection. The serum ammonia level and clinical efficacy were measured before and after treatment. Results: The blood ammonia levels in patients with hepatic encephalopathy was significantly increased, and associated with the severity of hepatic encephalopathy, there was significant differences between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion: The serum ammonia levels and hepatic encephalopathy recovery time were better than the control group after the treatment. Ornithine aspartate for injection has significant effect on hepatic encephalopathy.
