Abstract
Sodium bisulfate can be used as catalyst for the esterification instead of sulphuric acid.N-Butyl benzoate is sysnthesized from n-butyl alcohol and benzoic acid in the presence of sodium bisulfate monohydrate(NaHSO 4·H 2O).The yield of the ester reaches 96.6% under amount of substance ratio of benzoic acid,n-butyl alcohol and sodium bisulfate is 1∶2∶0.07,refluxed and water segrated for 2h.This method takes the advantages of simple operation, mild reaction conditions, high purity and yield of the product.
