A Discussion of Language Metonymy

Abstract

Metonymy is used to let the salience part of things signify the whole or another part of things.It is based on the close relationship of two concepts.Metonymy can be divided into language metonymy and rhetoric metonymy,the former includes synthetic metonymy and possessive metonymy,the latter includes simile,metaphor,analogy and substitute metonymy.
