The clinical significance of serum C-respective protein and matrix metalloproteinases levels in acute coronary syndrome patients

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum levels of C-respective protein(CRP) and matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 and acute coronary syndrome(ACS) and its significance as serum target of ACS.Methods:The levels of CRP and MMP-2 and 9 in peripheral serum of 30 ACS patients,stable angina pectoris(SAP) patients and 30 without coronary heart disease patients as control were measured,respectively by enzyme-linked immunoassay(ELISA) and scatter rateturbidity.Results: The serum levels of CRP and MMP-2 and 9 in ACS group,SAP group were higher than that in without coronary heart disease group.The levels of CRP and MMP-2 and 9 in ACS group were higher than that in SAP group.There was a positive correlation between the levels of CRP and MMP-2 and 9.Conclusions: Elevation of serum levels of CRP and MMP-2 and 9 are related with unstable plaque.It can be used as a serum target to judge ACS.
