Abstract

Objective:To compare the effects of HYZAAR(losartan potassium/hydrochlorothiazide) with that of benazepril on essential hypertensive patients. Methods: After 1 week washing out period and 2 weeks of placebo adimistraion 80 patients were divided into two groups, HYZAAR group and benazepril(10mg/d) group. At the end of 1,2,4,6,8 weeks after treatment, blood pressure, heart rare(HR)and adverse reaction were recorded. Results: At the end of 8 weeks,SBP/DBP in both HYZAAR and benazepril group were decreased. HYZAAR group had better effects than benazepril group in reducing blood pressure. Conclusions: HYZAAR is an effective agent in treatment of essential hypertension.
