Abstract
Objective:To observe the effectiveness, safety and responsiveness of single-dose therapy with clotrimazole(500mg) vaginal tablets and that of seven-day therapy with Nystatin(500000units)vaginal tablets to provide the treatment to vulvovaginal candidiasis during women's pregnancy. Methods:One hundred and thirty-three pregnant women with vulvovaginal candidiasis were divided into two groups,of which 68 cases were anexperiment groupbeing treated with clotrimazole(500mg)vaginal tablets, and other 65 cases were acontrast groupbeing treated with Nystatin(500000 units)vaginal tablets. To carry out the clinical analysis, two follow-up visits were conducted on the third and the seventh day respectively after the final dose was given. Results:The effectiveness of two groups was similar and close after the cease of the treatment for 7days with clotrimazole (500mg)slightly better than Nystatin(500000units).However,it was also observed that the effectiveness were significantly better than Nystatin(500000units after the cease of the treatment just for 3 days. Conclusions:Both treatments had an equal effec- tiveness and the degree of safety as a partial treatment. However, clotrimazole is well worth a recommendation due to its shorter period for recovery, faster effects and convenience as well as a better response from the patients.
