Abstract
Objective Detecting the expression of tumor suppressor gene p16 in cervical carcinoma tissue and studying its relationship with clinicopathological futures and prognosis. Methods Expression of p16 protein was detected with SP immunochemistry technology in 30 cases normal cervix uteri tissue,20 cases cervical intraepithelial neoplasia tissue and 52 cases squamous cervical carcinoma tissue. Results The normal cervical tissue showed p16-negative expression.p16 was over expression in in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia tissue and squamous cervical carcinoma tissue. The p16 over-expression rate in CIN tissue was 30.0% and its over-expression rate in squamous cervical carcinoma tissue was 63.5%.The expression of p16 in squamous cervical carcinoma was relate to histologic grade and lymph node metastasis(P0.05) but not relate to tumor infiltrate deepness、clinical stage age、tumor size(P0.05);The prognosis of the postive expression of p16 protein group were not as good as the prognosis of the negative expression of p16 protein group;but statistically there was no difference between the two groups. Conclusion Overexpression of tumor suppression gene p16 was occured in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) qand invasive cervical cancer,so its protein may be an useful biomarker for cervical carcinoma screening and diagnosis. The relationship between p16 and prognosis was not identified,it need further study.
