High-yielding seed production technique of new good quality hybrid rice Zaoyou 11

Zaoyou 11 is a thermo-sensitive early maturing rice hybrid derived from the newly bred wild abortive type cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS) line Zao A and the restorer line Gui 11 by Rice Research Institute of Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences.The rice hybrid showed a higher yield with good grain quality.During 2004-2006,the planted area of Zaoyou 11 in Guangxi was more than 700 hm2,and the general yield was 7500kg/hm2.Moreover,during 2005-2006,the seed production area of Zaoyou 11 in Guangxi was 41.3 hm2,and the general yield of seed production reached 2625kg/hm2 and the highest was 3750kg/hm2.The grain quality of Zaoyou 11 was up to the first class of China national fine quality rice standards,and it was certified and registered by the Guangxi Committee for Crop Variety Registration in March,2006.The characteristics of parents of new rice hybrid Zaoyou 11 were introduced in the paper,and the high-yielding seeds production technique and key points for commercial production of Zaoyou 11 was also summarized to provide the reference for extension.
