Abstract
Objective:To explore the effect of modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) on memory and abstract thinking in schizophrenics. Method:37 cases of schizophrenia were recruited and measured with Wechsler memory scale (WMS) and block design test of Wechsler adult intelligence scale before and after treatment with MECT. Results:The scores of picture,recognition,regeneration,experience,association and block design were significantly higher after treatment than before treatment. Conclusion:MECT might have no harm to memory and abstract thinking of schizophrenics.
