Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of gatifloxacin injection in the treatment of moderate and severe bacterial infections.Methods:25 patients in study group were treated with gatifloxacin 200mg iv q12h and 25 patients in control group with levofloxacin 200mg iv q12h for 5 to 14 days. Results:The cure rates and the effective rates of the two groups were 64%,56%(P0.05) and 92%,88%(P0.05),respectively.The bacterial positive and eradication rates of the two groups were 96%,68% and 100%,100%,respectively.Sensitivity rates of 41 bacterial strains to gatifloxacin, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, sparfloxacin, cefataxime were 100%,95.12%,92.68%,97.56%,respectively.Adverse events were generally mild.Adverse events rates of the two groups were 30.77% and 20%(P0.05),respectively.Conclusion:Gatifloxacin injection is a highly effective and well tolerated antibacterial agent for the treatment of moderate and severe bacterial infections.
