Predictive value of 3.0T MRI for preoperative T-staging of rectal cancer

Objective To explore the relationship between the 3.0T MRI signs and the pathology of T-stage of rectal cancer and its value to guide the clinical treatment regimen.Methods 56 cases of pathologically confirmed rectal cancer underwent 3.0T MR scan before operation,then by analyzing and classifying the MRI signs,staging was made accordingly and compared with histopathological T-staging.Results In 56 cases,the overall diagnostic accuracy of T-staging according the 3.0T MR was 85.7%,in≤T2～T4 staging,which was 91.1%,85.7% and 94.6%,respectively.The infiltration status revealed by MRI with the pathological T-staging showed strongly positive correlation(r=0.774,P0.01).Conclusion 3.0T MRI is helpful in T-staging of rectal cancer with the high diagnostic accuracy,and is conducive to formulate the operation plan and estimate the prognosis.
