Abstract
Objective To observe the changes of levels of IL-18 and Ca2+in neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE),and to investigate the correlation among IL-18,Ca2+ and HIE.Methods 60 HIE patients were randomly classified.10 normal neonates were enroILed as control group. In each group, the concentrations of IL-18 and Ca2+ on 1 day,3 days,7 days and 14 days after birth. The the changes and significances of IL-18 and Ca2+were observed and analyszed. Results The levels of serum IL-18 in HIE groups on the first day after birth were significantly higher than those of the control group, however, the levels of Ca2+ were significantly lower(P0.01).The levels of IL-18 in patients with moderate and severe HIE were significantly higher than those of patients with mild HIE,while the levels of Ca2+were obviously lower(P0.01).There was no significant difference in the serum levels of IL-18 and Ca2+on the 14 days after birth between HIE groups and control group(P0.05).Conclusion IL-18 and Ca2+ are involved in the course of HIE.The levels of IL-18 and Ca2+in HIE patients are positively correlated with the severity, condition and prognosis of HIE.
