Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the alteration of inflammatory cytokine during acute pancreatitis(AP) and the therapeutic effects of verapamil in rats. Methods:The model of rat AP induced by a closed duodenal loop technique was established to observe the changes of the plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)、interleukin-1(IL-1) and interleukin-6(IL-6).The pancreatic histology was examined by light and electron microscopy. All wistar rats were randomly divided into Group A:sham-operative group, group B:AP group,Group C:AP treated with verapaiil. Results:In AP group the levels of serum TNFα、IL-1 and IL-6 was significantly increased compared with those of sham-operative group. In AP with verapamil therapy group, the levels of TNF α、IL-1 and IL-6 in serum was significantly lower than those of AP group, and the severity of pancreatic injury was dramatically improved. Conclusion:Inflmanatory cytokines,TNF-α、IL-1 and IL-6 were increased remarkbly in AP.Calcium channel blocker, verapamil could reduce the levels of serum TNF α、IL-1、IL-6 and has beneficial effect on reducing the severity of pancreatic pathology.
